Privacy Policy

Souvenir ("the app") is made by an independent developer. This policy explains what the app collects, why, and what control you have. The short version: we collect the minimum needed to make a social travel app work, we don't run ads, and we never sell your data.

Your account

You sign in with your Apple ID. Apple gives us an anonymous identifier so you can restore your account on a new phone. We do not receive your password, and we do not require your email or real name. Your profile is the username, avatar, bio, and links you choose to add.

What we collect

• Stickers and photos. When you catch something, the photo you take is stored on your device. The die-cut sticker made from it, its name, and (if location permission is granted) the place it was caught are uploaded to our servers when your sharing settings allow it, so it can appear on the world map and in shared trips.
• Location. With your permission, catches are tagged with where they happened. Your approximate location (rounded to about a mile, never exact) is shared with nearby travelers only while you are checked in. Checking in is always a manual tap in Travelers, it never happens automatically or in the background, and it expires by itself after the time you pick (one hour, three hours, or until midnight). Other travelers see a rough distance in a list; you are never shown as a pin on a map. You can check out at any moment from Travelers or Settings.
• Messages and waves. Waves, wave notes, and direct messages are stored on our servers so they can be delivered. Conversations unlock only when both people wave at each other.
• Trips. Trip names, dates, destinations, and shared-trip membership.

AI processing

When you catch something, the photo is sent to an AI model (via OpenRouter) to identify what's in it and name your sticker. Photos sent for identification are not used to train models and are not retained by us beyond producing the sticker.

What we don't do

• No ads, no trackers, no analytics SDKs from third parties.
• We never sell or share your data with data brokers.
• We never post anywhere on your behalf.

Sharing controls

Every trip has a visibility setting: Public, Friends, or Private. Private trips never appear on the world map, and switching a trip to Private removes its pins from our servers. Being discoverable by nearby travelers is off unless you have checked in, and there is no setting that keeps you permanently visible.

Deleting your data

Settings → Delete account erases your profile, stickers, trips, waves, messages, and photos from our servers immediately and permanently. Local data on your phone is removed at the same time.

Children

Souvenir is not directed at children under 13, and you must meet your region's minimum age for app accounts to use it.
